Cash in the Attic
I know it’s been said before, but you really can make money selling the stuff you don’t need/want anymore. All you need is an eBay and PayPal account and your ready. Let the virtual garage sale begin! Here is how it worked for me…
It’s Saturday morning, and on my list of things to do is cleaning out my garage (I’m not very proud of this, but I still had Christmas decorations out that needed to be boxed up and put in the attic). After I finished boxing everything up, I went to put them in the attic. That is when I realized I didn’t have enough room. Something had to go! I started digging through boxes, and found a bunch of things I hadn’t used in years. Immediately, the conversation I had earlier with my sister began to replay in my head, then a light bulb turned on! I would make room by selling the junk I didn’t need anyway.
After setting up an account and taking a few digital pictures, I was selling online. It was amazing! Here I am getting paid for doing something I was going to do anyway (because my wife told me to). I can’t think of a better way to spend a Saturday morning. Try it out for yourself and let me know how it works out…

You must trust yourself more than you trust anyone else with your money.

I like this idea. I believe if you haven’t used something in one year, chances are you never will!

Attn. Doug: That’s a great motto.

After I had my ‘financial epiphany’ a while back, I was aiming to get a starter emergency fund of $1,000 set up. Desperate times call for desperate measures, so I went on an eBay spree, selling almost anything and everything I could. It was just the boost I needed to accelerate toward my goal, and I was able to get my emergency fund set up so much faster than if I had simply relied on putting a little bit of money aside here and there!

Attn. Janelle: It’s almost addicting. Next thing you know you’re looking around the house thinking, “Do I really need this?”
