When you have a happy, healthy child, life insurance isn’t something that you often think about (or want to think about). But maybe it should be. If there’s one thing that I’ve learned about life, it is to always expect the unexpected! Doing this has served me well.

If you have a healthy child between 14 days old to 12 years old, Gerber has a life insurance plan for you. The plan is called The Grow-Up Life Insurance Plan. The policies are offered in $5,000 increments, ranging from $5,000 - $35,000. The premiums are fixed, and do not change throughout the duration of the policy. When the policy matures at the age of 21, the coverage automatically doubles (again, the premiums are locked-in and will not change). Your child can then keep the plan, or purchase additional coverage at the standard rates offered for clients 21 years old, regardless of health or military status (this will be offered again at the age of 28).

My neighbor just told me about this plan yesterday, and I thought this was a great opportunity to share it with you. I don’t have children of my own (unless you count my two weimaraners), but when I do, this is something I will definitely consider purchasing.
